Frequently Asked Questions When Adopting from B&R Akitas
Following the guidelines listed below, we will have an agreement between buyer and seller to be signed at time of purchase.

General Information:

Buyer must be 18 years old or older to adopt a puppy from us.  A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a puppy until it is old enough to go to your home. You may pay for your puppy in full at the time of your purchase decision. If for some reason you are unable to complete the purchase and you inform us before he/she is 6 weeks old, we will provide a complete refund minus the deposit.

No puppy is considered reserved until a deposit has been received.  The fastest way to send a deposit is via PayPal.   We highly recommend using PayPal for deposits so your deposit is immediate and there is no room for uncertainty. Additionally, PayPal's buying and selling policies protect both parties.

Please do not ask us to hold a puppy for you to think about as we can't turn other good homes down when a puppy is not firmly sold.

Please do not reserve a puppy unless you are sure you are ready for a puppy. Take into consideration your housing situation, the people in your home, and very importantly, other pets you may already have. Please, learn about the breed, the size of these special dogs as well as their temperaments before making this important purchase.

Placing the deposit:

Place a $150.00 deposit on a puppy as soon as possible; this will hold him/her for you until the puppy is 8 weeks of age. You must contact us for other arrangements if your puppy needs to stay with us beyond 8 weeks of age.

You may pay more than the $150.00 deposit. Only the first $150 will be considered a deposit and also goes to the total puppy purchase price. The rest will be considered payment toward the puppy. If you change your mind, any monies paid toward the puppy purchase price will be refunded excluding the deposit of $150.

Payment methods:

·         Cash
·         PayPal (our preferred payment method - the easiest and most convenient method)
·         Cashier’s Check or Postal Money Order Check. It should be mailed immediately. When mailing a money order or cashier's check, the payment must be received within 5 business days. After that period, we will not consider the puppy reserved.
·         MoneyGram from Wal-Mart, available at their customer service desk.  Please give us a minimum of 2 days to pick up the money as we have to drive 30 miles each way to the nearest Wal-Mart.

Remainder of Payment:

Payment in full is expected at the time of pick-up/delivery.

Special Circumstances:

Puppies held at buyer's request beyond 8 weeks of age must be paid for in full by 8 weeks of age.  For example, if we hold a puppy for you until it is 11 weeks old so it can arrive at your home for a special occasion, the puppy must still be paid for in full before it is 8 weeks old.

Additionally, puppies held at buyer's request beyond 8 weeks of age will require payment for veterinary expenses we incur beyond the 8 week age date. This includes routine care (such as vaccinations), emergency care, or any kind of care other than feeding/watering.

Will I Get a Refund if I Back Out?

The first $150 you pay toward your puppy is a non-refundable deposit that applies toward your puppy's total price.  If you have already acquired the puppy and it is living in your home, and for some reason you feel you need to return it to us, we will consider a partial refund based on the time lapsed, age of the puppy, additional costs in advertising, etc. At the time of purchase, we will have a form to be signed addressing this exact issue to protect both parties involved as well as the emotional and physical well-being of the puppy.

If for some reason you are unable to finish paying for the puppy and you tell us before he/she is 6 weeks old, we will refund all that you have paid except the $150 deposit.  If the puppy is older than 6 weeks, we will consider refunds based on circumstances as well as a sliding scale based on the age of the puppy. It is harder to find a home for puppies at the full original asking price as they get bigger since people are less likely to adopt older puppies. If we can sell that puppy for the full amount, we may refund your deposit. However, if we do make that decision, it will be minus any extra advertising expenses/fees/vet bills, etc. that we incur due to your change of heart.

We want our puppies to be loved and cherished. That's our main goal. We hope that by establishing these simple guidelines and requirements, it will ensure that buyers are truly interested and educated in the expense and time in raising healthy, happy puppies.

If we can answer any questions or clarify anything further, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you!
